Dr. Aaron Rosselle received his doctorate from Life Chiropractic College West in 1999. Through post graduate studies he has attained advanced certification in Network Spinal Analysis and Webster In-Utero Constraint Technique. A clinical focus on optimizing health and wellness through vitalistic/ holistic integrative health care has given him experience with cases ranging from cancer to well pregnancy/ home birth. Dr. Rosselle is co-founder and co-director of Upaya Center for Wellbeing where he has a practice centered on family, pregnancy and pediatric care. Committee Member Highlight – Xandrea Sanford-Treistman

Xandréa Sanford-Treistman

Is a resident of Oakland, raised in NYC. She is the mother of an infant son and works from home and in the community in her practice as a Holistic Health Counselor and Mental health therapist. She has a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelors degree in Psychology. She has worked with children, adolescents and families in her mental health practice and recognized the need for a focus on Nutrition, as the correlation between FOOD and MOOD was evident in how her clients functioned. This was particularly prominent with the clients of color, and she felt compelled to introduce the youth and families to healthy food options. She also volunteers with Three Squares to educate the families and youth in the Bay area about the importance of creating healthy eating habits and learning hands on cooking techniques that they can use for a lifetime. After having her son, she decided to focus her practice on expectant, new and veteran moms who are looking for ways find healthy, time/cost effective solutions to eating and snacking, as well as helping women to eat for energy, decrease stress and control weight. She is teaching cooking classes on for Nutrition clients of the Specific Chiropractic Center in Piedmont, as well as teaching nutrition to Doulas in training with the Nia Healing Center in Oakland.

Committee Member Highlight – Dr. Samsarah Morgan

L. Samsarah Morgan is a birth and postpartum doula, as well as an apprentice midwife working under the supervision of Licensed Midwife Selena Green of the Sacred Birth Place, in Oakland,

She is the Director of Birth Professionals of the Bay Area which offers training and certification to birth workers .

She is also the Director of Nia Center for Birth and family life, which offers the birth services and education as well as individual, couples and family counseling and couching and hypnotherapy.

Samsarah is proud to say that she is a member of occupy/decolonize Oakland.  She is one of the founding members of Occupy Oakland Children’s Village as well as the founding member of the Decolonize pregnancy birth and parenting caucus of Occupy Oakland.

The Bay Area Breastmilk Cooperative was founded by two local mamas who saw a gap between parents needing breastmilk and parents with an excess of breastmilk that they wanted put to good use. We have created a way for those two groups to connect and informally share breastmilk, parent to parent. We believe in breastmilk, and we believe in supporting free access to breastmilk for all babies. Learn more on our website:

MADELINE ODEN is currently the Executive Chairperson of The Tatia Oden French Memorial Foundation, the Chairperson of the Maternal, Child Health subcommittee of the Alameda County Public Health (ACPH) Commission in California, and a commissioner on the ACPH Commission. She has been a certified practicing doula.

Gingi Allen – mother, doula, apprentice midwife, who as a full-time mother,  felt called  to the women in her  community and began facilitating  women’s monthly multigenerational womb wellness circles.

Monique Sims  – A mother of 2 boys whose career history includes serving as a Supervising Public Health Nutritionist for the Vallejo WIC Program and as Manager for La Clinica North Vallejo.

Molly Arthur -Molly is a native San Franciscan; She is the inspiration behind EcoBirth whose vision is -Relating earth and birth- caring for one natural life so we will all be well. Her focus is on inspiring women to change our culture’s story to compassion for the environments of Earth and Birth and to impel social change to sustain healthy, caring humans and a healed earth home.

Committee member Highlight – Cara Judea Alhadeff

Cara Judea Alhadeff began teaching in 1998 and soon after completed the Advanced Studies Teacher Training Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute. Her background in cultural anthropology, Hindu mythology, Buddhist psychology and human physiology enhance both how she teaches and how she learns. Her injury-prevention approach to yoga combines body awareness of weight, energy, and strength distribution. Internationally, she teaches yoga workshops andand trains yoga teachers in Seoul, South Korea. Cara Judea has written extensively on the connection between Iyengar yoga and the visual arts. Her teaching specialties range from yoga for athletes/dancers to clients with neurological disorders to restorative yoga. Through a practice of playful self-inquiry, she hopes to help students both challenge and respect the possibility of moving beyond mental and physical limitations. Her teaching has been deeply influenced by Dean Lerner and by Judith Lasater’s research on the therapeutic aspects of Yoga and psycho-anatomy.
